Late teens, early 20s navy, sheer cotton, dress. This dress came from an estate of a woman whose grandmother (last photo) had worked as a midwife in Texas, from the late teens-40s. Because of this, I believe that all the garments retrieved from this estate were all handmade. If this is the case, the woman was an incredible seamstress! This dress is almost entirely handstitched! It is lightweight & perfect paired with a cardigan & layers, for the colder seasons. Fastens in the front with hook & eye closures on the bodice & waist. Hand done fagot stitching on the arms & hems of the skirt. A very ethereal, ghostly garment. Freshly laundered & ready to wear. Photos # 5 & 6 are the most accurate color.
Issues: Overall very sturdy condition. There are a few areas of discoloration. On the shoulder & skirt are darker areas that appears similar to a rust stain, as seen in photos # 7 & 8. The skirt has a few small areas of light color, as seen in photos # 9 & 10. Neither areas of discoloration are noticeable, nor does it detract from the overall appearance. The back of the bodice has a slight fade, seen in photo # 8. Otherwise no holes, tears, snags to note.
